厦门大学“嘉庚”号海洋科考船，2015年3月开工建造，2016年5月下水、命名，2017年4月正式交付使用并入列国家海洋调查船队，是一艘全球级（global class）、无限航区的3000吨级海洋科学综合考察船。以“嘉庚”号命名科考船，是为了缅怀厦门大学校主、著名爱国侨领陈嘉庚先生。
