The annual “XMU@Sea” Cruise set sail again on July 12. 102 undergraduates and teachers from diverse cultural backgrounds embarked on three distinct expeditions aboard RV TKK, engaging in various research and training tasks. These included measuring chemical parameters in the seawater, learning to use the oceanographic and meteorological observation instruments, conducting acoustic communication experiments, and sampling gravity cores to study the “history” of the ocean.

In addition to the planned marine scientific courses, the undergraduates participating in the field training also volunteered at the Open House events held in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, China. They guided visitors on an up-close ship tour, bridging the public to the seagoing life aboard and the mysteries of the deep blue ocean.
